The entire community of Charles Dale Memorial International School rolled out its drums on Thursday, June 23, 2017 to celebrate the Birthday of the Managing Director of Beremont Group Nigeria Limited, Chief [Mrs.] V.O.R Diete-Spiff fondly called Big Mummy and known among the Royalties as the the Yeye Ilu of Lagos, which is literally translated as the Mother of Lagos, a title conferred on her by the Oba of Lagos because of her enormous contributions to the advancement of humanity.
Big Mummy walked into the Adelaide Hall, the venue of the event, gorgeously clad in a pink flowered perfectly sewn dress looking, as she always does, like the Queen Mother that she is. Students and staff rose to a rousing standing ovation that practically announced the unquantifiable love usually expressed to Big Mummy by the entire members of the Charles Dale community.
Earlier, before Big Mummy’s arrival to the Adelaide Hall, the students had offered a heartfelt praise session to God on behalf of Big Mummy for keeping her alive and strong all these years. Upon her arrival, the Head Girl of the School, Daniella Ndah, led the gathering in a profound prayer that featured thanksgiving to God and supplication. The prayer session was dotted intermittently by a period of chorus of amen both by students and staff to corroborate the declarations made by the Head Girl as she led the prayer.
The birthday celebration also featured poem presentation and recitation by students. The poems were laced with expressions of love to Big Mummy who the children graciously described as having the heart of gold. A group of Year 11 students, Inyang Samantha, Mercy Tex-Imabibo and Jessica Alumma filled the air in the hall with warmth as they sang sonorously for Big Mummy to express their felicitation.
The highpoint of the event was the cutting of the birthday cake by Big Mummy. Flanked by the Principal of the school, Mr. Alexander Nader, and other school leaders alongside the Head Boy and the Head Girl, the Managing Director cut the gorgeous birthday cake after the spelling of Victoria, the first name of our dear Big Mummy. Afterwards, Big Mummy prayed for the children that they would grow and achieve.
The entire Charles Dale community wishes our Dear Big Mummy momentous birthday celebration…..
